General Information “Who, What, When, Where, Why and How” Who is eligible to attend the forum? All graduate students, medical students and residents doing biomedical research are encouraged to submit abstracts. Mentors interested in participating are encouraged to contact us about judging opportunities. What is the NSRF? The primary purpose of the National Student Research Forum is to provide a national scientific assembly, planned and managed by students for the presentation of research by medical students, graduate students, interns, and residents in the biomedical sciences. The Forum provides an opportunity for young biomedical scientists to receive critical analysis and recognition of their research efforts from established scientists. When is the NSRF? The NSRF is scheduled on April 23-25, 2009 in Galveston, Texas. Activities begin with a casual poolside reception on Wednesday evening the night before. Oral presentations take place on Thursday and Friday morning; poster presentations on Thursday afternoon only. A reception will follow the keynote speaker’s address on Thursday evening. A bench-to-beside panel discussion is planned during Friday’s lunch. The final event is an awards banquet Saturday evening at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort. Where is the NSRF held? The NSRF is hosted every year on the campus of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, approximately 45 minutes southeast of Houston. You should also attend to network with research faculty and other students who are conducting biomedical research like yourself. And you should attend to compete for some of the $9,000 in prize money that will be awarded this year!How do I apply to the NSRF?
