A Welcome from the Co-Directors December 3, 2008 Dear Doctors, Friends and Colleagues: We cordially invite you to participate in the 50th Annual National Student Research Forum (NSRF). This year’s forum is even more exciting as we celebrate 50 years of student research excellence from across the country and abroad. The Forum is held every year on the campus of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas. This year the NSRF will start Wednesday, April 22, 2009 with an exciting kickoff party and will continue through the awards banquet on Saturday April 25, 2009. Scientific presentations will begin the morning of Thursday, April 23 and continue through Saturday, April 25. The NSRF is a meeting that gives medical and graduate students as well as interns and residents the opportunity to present their biomedical research. Presentations may include research in the basic sciences or clinical sciences, on work that is completed or in progress, but that has not been published prior to abstract submission. The NSRF offers an excellent opportunity for participants to receive critical review and recognition of their research by their peers and established scientists. Presentations include either poster presentations or oral presentations with accompanying manuscripts. Participants also have the opportunity to participate for more than 30 different categorical and overall awards. Over the past forty-nine years, the NSRF has grown from a small regional meeting to a nationally respected assembly of young scientists. Students from over 45 schools in the U.S. and internationally were at the NSRF last year and approximately 145 papers were presented. The 50th Annual National Student Research Forum will prove to be more rewarding than ever. The American Medical Association Foundation and the University of Texas Medical Branch provide primary funding for the meeting. For more information and to submit your abstract and application, visit our website at www.utmb.edu/nsrf . The abstract submission deadline is January 23, 2009. We hope to see you in April 2009! Sincerely,
2009 NSRF Committee
