Part 1
(1-50)

1.       Even though it is such a large workplace, it is a quaint environment. Everyday I see the same people on the elevator. They may not know my name, but they know the floor I work on and what I eat for breakfast.

2.       I am proud to be an American and grateful for a job and working for Dr. Sharon Raimer is a pleasure. UTMB offers education for their employees and I am grateful that my Father above loves me enough to provide work that helps me support my mother and siblings.

3.       The group of people I work with. We all work great as a team together. I don’t think I would enjoy my position as much if not for my co-workers.

4.       I love to help plan new projects that make patient care and working here better for everyone.

5.       Being able to help patients feel better mentally, physically and spiritually even though they are suffering is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

6.       I feel I make a positive difference in the patients’ lives, as well as co-workers. I know at the end of the day, I have done a good job concerning patient care.

7.       I have the opportunity to make a difference in other places around the world by sharing our expertise such as in Armenia where we have provided modern training and health information to the physicians and nurses.

8.       Everyday I am surrounded by young, beautiful people with high aspirations, sharp minds, big dreams and promising futures.

9.       Working here is like being with your family co-workers and patients—I really enjoy working with the people in my department—teamwork and trust.

10.   You have the opportunity to get a good education while working. Education is very important to get advancement in job placement. In other words—more money.

11.   It gives me great satisfaction to know that what I do greatly effects the lives of other people. They may be prison inmates, but they are human beings also and deserve good care. I’m proud of all we do at correctional managed care.

12.   You can join the Field House and go for a swim on your lunch break.

13.   Every day I’m fortunate enough to work here, I thank God. Because there are so many among us that are ill and I dedicate that in itself a blessing in helping the ill get better in any way God allows me.

14.   I met my husband here and have been married to this wonderful man for almost 20 years (only a few years less than I have been at UTMB).

15.   God has blessed me to have healing hands and being able to touch burn patients without causing intense pain, and hearing them say to me that I’m so gentle when doing a dressing change, really makes my job worthwhile. And I love all my patients, even the ones that are not burned, and I love my job.

16.   I love people—to help them, to talk to them and to show them a little kindness. I’m a great conversationalist and I love to talk to people. I also love to learn from people too. UTMB has a variety of people-students, patients and employees.

17.   My co-workers.

18.   World-class institution and now receiving that recognition.

19.   You can make an impact on another person’s life by providing knowledge, empowerment and care that can improve that person’s life.

20.   The close family feeling of the environment. Employees here are very personable and the university is small enough that it does not take long to build a strong network of new friends, colleagues and just “plain ol’ folks.” UTMB’s system of recognizing employees makes a person feel good no matter what their job may be because each employee contributes to the overall well being of the UTMB family.

21.   Professionalism, which is taught.

22.   Learning tools and opportunities.

23.   The people are warm and caring.

24.   The campus design—hospital promotes and encourages growth.

25.   Proud of our research area.

26.   Proud of our diversity.

27.   Proud of our leadership.

28.   My customers—the physicians, students, employees, patients and their families who I talk to everyday. They are my spirit of UTMB. They make me feel valued, treasured and important and in return I need to be there for them. They make my day.

29.   The people who work at UTMB. The people at UTMB are warm, helpful, loving, caring and friendly. I feel the people are what make UTMB the place it is today. I feel honored to work at UTMB.

30.   I have excellent insurance and benefits.

31.   There are so many places I could transfer to all over Texas if I needed to move.

32.   There are so many classes and continuing education opportunities, so many things other companies don’t offer.

33.   When I walk down the halls as I have for the past 30 years, I sense something important happening here. We enter the doors often as strangers, both workers and patients alike. But we leave everyday, somehow transformed as our lives have touched, and none of us are entirely the same as we were when we walked in. It’s awesome, powerful, and I for one am grateful for that experience.

34.   The staff here is very friendly and courteous.

35.   I love work at UTMB because we not only care for our patients, we support the community and have projects which help the environment. For example, each year, every employee is given the opportunity to donate to their favorite charitable organization through the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). Our local community and many other worthy organizations benefit from these generous donations. Two projects which help the environment are the paper recycling program and the recently introduced e-mail check stub notification. What wonderful ways to save a tree. I feel proud in saying, “I am here for the health of Texas!”

36.   We have a positive impact on the community.

37.   I use safety watch at all times when I’m at work and I feel secure and saved money for my parking.

38.   To perform a service for those who are in need of TLC gives me a great feeling of personal satisfaction and accomplishment. Whether you are a health care professional or a volunteer, a kind word, a little laughter and a listening ear many times can be the difference between a positive experience or an unhappy hospital visit. I think my opportunity to meet and talk with patients prior to their appointments leads to a positive doctor-patient relationship. I am happy to be part of the UTMB team. (from a volunteer)

39.   Everyday I can provide a needed service to patients by ordering and supplying medical equipment needed. I take pride in my job and do the best I can do.

40.   I have the opportunity to develop friendships with incredible people from all over the world.

41.   It feels like home.

42.   I love working at UTMB because of the incredible diversity in career opportunities. You can have two or three or more career changes and stay at the same place. The possibilities are endless!

43.   It has given me the opportunity to grow professionally, emotionally and spiritually.

44.   It has given me many opportunities to share my gift of helping others.

45.   Working at UTMB affords me the opportunity to learn many new and exciting things from a great number of interesting people, from widely varied backgrounds and cultures.

46.   Dr. Sharon Raimer is a wonderful boss.

47.   As a professional, I will always provide good quality health care. Treat the patient like I and my family would want to be treated. To be proud that I’m part of UTMB. Go over and beyond to help the patients with their needs.

48.   Beyond the hectic pace of our workday lies a warm and happy environment that feels like home away from home.

49.   No matter where you start out in the university, there is always someplace you rise to.

50.   Flexibility in scheduling.
