Part 2
(51-100)

51.   Benefits package is comprehensive and great.

52.   The opportunities for educational advancement are wonderful.

53.   Working for UTMB has proven to be a wonderful career opportunity. I enjoy working with two of the most wonderful ladies and the chemistry that we have as co-workers makes coming to work a pleasure. We each set goals and achieve those goals through teamwork.

54.   I love working at UTMB because I have been given the opportunity to meet and work with pediatrician Dr. Thomas Allen. My children (one is 9 years old and the other 4 months) once had another pediatrician. But when I had the opportunity to see Dr. Allen’s work ethic, I transferred my children to be his patients. Dr. Allen is caring, knowledgeable and patient care is his No. 1 priority. I know my children are in good hands with Dr. Allen’s care. He’s definitely an asset to UTMB and to the “pedi world.” Had I not been employed with UTMB, my children and I may never have had the privilege to meet Dr. Allen.

55.   Opportunities to collaborate successes with the world’s geniuses

56.   I have worked here for more than 20 years. It has been a challenge to work in such a diversified environment where I get to use abilities and skills on a daily basis. I like my job.

57.   UTMB does so much good for society. Our clinical mission helps those in need today, while our academic and research areas provide the necessary tools to help others into the future.

58.   U did not Tell My Business.

59.   U put The M in MEDICAL Care. Baby!

60.   The patients. When they come in and you get to know them, you develop a special relationship with them, and it is so nice to do nice things for them because not only are they patients, they also become your friends.

61.   I am currently enrolled in the work/study program and have received nothing but positive reinforcement, even when I thought I could not do anymore. My supervisor and the other nursing staff are supportive of my continuing education. The work/study staff and counselors are very encouraging. I’ve had several e-mails from the counselor spurring me on...especially through this last difficult semester. My co-workers are also there to back me up and push me on. It’s nice to know that you have so many people in your corner.

62.   The smoke-free environment. I can remember when people smoked at their desks and thought they weren’t hurting a thing. Our awareness has changed!

63.   As a social worker working with the trauma team, I have the rare opportunity of working with patients and families at their most vulnerable. Take that patient condition and present it to a team that is vital, on the cutting edge of technology and health care with patient’s needs as its focus and you have a tough job that is easy to love!

64.   Just about everything that UTMB does makes sense. I am particularly impressed with the way UTMB strives to supply information to employees and clients in a very thorough and efficient manner.

65.   I am very thankful to be a part of an organization that cares enough for its employees to provide the support needed to further their education.

66.   I love working at UTMB because of the wealth of expertise here that can be shared with the community. We have some of the best resources around for fresh and interesting education in the nation.

67.   I have a loving and caring boss. She is very understanding and always open to hear what her staff has to say. She encourages us to take advantage of any training UTMB has to offer.

68.   We are here when a patient calls upon us about concerns or worries about a child, pregnancy or family planning. They know that we can be trusted and depended on.

69.   There are such nice people here and you feel like you are doing some good for the patients.

70.   Working in the dental field within a correctional facility, I expected it to be ‘challenging.’ But, I never imagined the fulfillment this position would bring; to provide professional health care to a portion of the population some of the world would just as soon forget about. I am grateful to UTMB for my employment, but I love UTMB for the privilege of truly serving.

71.   UTMB is simply the best!

72.   I work in the Regional and Maternal & Child Health Program. The RMCHP is unique in the services they give the clients. I truly enjoy caring for and teaching the under-served that make up our client mix. The telehealth services allow the clients the specialty care in the clinic site, while care in Galveston with MFM (or other specialities) is available if needed. The patients are appreciative of the care they receive and the outcomes are improved significantly because of the care we give. I am proud to be a member of such a fine organization and a part of the RMCHP.

73.   I am fortunate to work in a department with extremely talented people who are good at what they do and seem to have a real passion for their work and how it contributes to the overall mission of UTMB.

74.   You feel a sense of purpose working at an institution that has at its main focus the goal of making people well.

75.   You are given the tools, freedom and trust to do your job well.

76.   We have leadership who understand that each department at the university has a unique role in the success of the institution as a whole.

77.   Finally, we have a president who seems to believe so strongly in the mission of UTMB and its role in the community as a whole, and he is dedicated to making sure people know they can trust and count on UTMB for their health care.

78.   This is a great place to work. My last place of employment lasted 27 years and everyday it was high stress and dangerous. I feel safe and secure here. I work for a very good boss that consistently recognizes my abilities and I enjoy coming to work. I am grateful to be employed here. Thank you very much.

79.   Mom was a nurse at UTMB and advised me when I was a kid that I should start my career early and retire early at UTMB. Well, I took her advice and started three days after graduating from Kirwin High School, took one year off to attend Galveston College and retired with excellent benefits (thanks TRS) when I was 48. I love UTMB and TRS. (from retiree)

80.   I love working at UTMB because of the diversity found in the workforce.

81.   I find the unique professionals I encounter at UTMB truly enrich my life both professionally and personally. Janitors, maids, clerical and management staff are from all walks of life, and to have many cultures in the workplace can only enhance the experience of being a UTMB employee.

82.   The people that work with me.

83.   I love to work at UTMB because of the people that work with me.

84.   I am a BOI and have a family history with UTMB. My mother was a Nursing Supervisor in Nursing Surgery and worked here for 32+ years. prior to retiring. I followed in her footsteps, obtaining my BSN from the SON, in becoming a nurse. I have worked for other entities, but only at UTMB do I truly feel comfortable..... “at home.” UTMB’s reputation for promoting teamwork, improvement, and professionalism has heightened employee morale, as well as made me (as an employee and a nurse) more focused on UTMB’s goal. Since this is my “UTMB family”, I am eager to continue to improve upon what is already moving in a positive direction. We are all here for a common goal, and EVERYONE of us is important in that journey to obtain our goal.

85.   UTMB is a highly respected institution both locally and statewide. Not only does UTMB offer excellent health care and education, but it is also making great strides in the area of research and community service. I feel that it is an honor and a privilege to be working in a place that offers so much for so many different people.

86.   Room for career blossoming.

87.   The friendly atmosphere of people sharing good will and help to not only patients but also to co-workers.

88.   You are given the opportunity to develop your skills professionally, personally, and emotionally. “Here for the Health of Texas” means here for its employees as well.

89.   There are all types of people and I love people. I love UTMB because there is always something that someone needs. My life was empty before I started working for UTMB. Each day I feel as though I have accomplished something when I finish my day’s work because there is always something that I can do to help not just the patients needs but my co-workers. I love the floor that I work on and I have a real good feeling about how they feel about me. I really love working here. I sometimes go to work tired but once I step in the door I get motivated because I am appreciated each day. There is not a day that goes by when someone doesn’t tell me they really appreciate me or just “Thank You.” I’m not perfect but I try my hardest to be and do my very best. I would like to thank whomever for this opportunity. This was a great idea and I have enjoyed working here for the last six months and I plan to retire when my time presents itself.

90.   There are all different types of people. This statement is very broad because there are different nationalities and there are all different types of personalities. I love people and every day I meet someone new that I may learn something from or I help someone that needs my help. I love my boss and I love everyone on T10B that I work with.

91.   I get to meet people from all over the world.

92.   It is a great place for somebody that is looking for a career. I am so excited learning a totally new and different world for me. I can’t believe that I waited too long to come to UTMB! I know I am doing something that I really like, especially when I have to help patients... when they need a translator, it makes me feel great! I had to learn English and now I am using what I learned to help somebody! That makes me remember myself a few years ago... I guess now it is my time to help others. For those things and many more... I really love to work at UTMB!

93.   I’ve gotten training and experience in a lot of different programs; for example, Medrite, Envision, EDS, Travel, OCR and the list is endless. I can always find the answer to any question I have via email or by phone. A UTMB employee should never say, “I didn’t or I don’t know,” the information is readily available and for the most part people are happy to give it freely.

94.   I love to work for UTMB, because I work with many wonderful Midwifes. And I enjoy hearing our patients come back and tell us how wonderful the Midwifes at the Birth Center treated them. It is great to hear feed back from our patients with good stories, not just with bad things that happen to them. There are so many more things that I could comment about, but I think that is the best one of them all.

95.   I work for a great doctor! She appreciates my work, respects my opinions and treats me like a valuable member of her team.

96.   A great benefit for the outpatient clinics and their patients is the HealthCare hotline. Their service is invaluable and appreciated each day!

97.   Great bosses.

98.   Great co-workers.

99.   Good Job.

100. Paycheck.
