Part
4
(151-200)
151.
My co-workers and the ER Faculty are the BEST! I’ve been with
Emergency Medicine for only four months and EVERYDAY is a pleasure to work
here. From day one my co-workers were anxious to help me out and answer
all my questions. I am very lucky to work with these wonderful people!
Thanks for making me feel at home Bridget, Tara, Martha, Tim, and Deb!
152.
I enjoy coming to work because of the great people I have to work
with makes it a pleasure to come to work. I worked for a Ford Dealership
for 24 years and it is nothing like coming to work here. I actually look
forward to coming to work every day.
153.
I love UTMB because I feel they really take care of their
employees. They continually educate them, pay them well and offer a
competitive benefits package. We always have up to date equipment to work
with which makes our jobs (and lives) so much nicer! Even when UTMB must
lay people off, you give the employee 60 days pay and assist them in
finding another job within the university. I came from a “not so
great” work environment to a “great” one. I have terrific co-workers
and the best all-around manager in town!! UTMB has been really wonderful
to me and I feel very fortunate and blessed to work here.
154.
What I love about working at UTMB is the many department personnel
that I have had the joy of working with throughout my years in the
Purchasing department. Most of the time, people are very friendly, helpful
and understanding. Also, I can be having a bad day and not be in a very
good mood, and there are certain personnel that will call me needing
assistance and they are so cheerful and pleasant, that after hearing their
voice, I can’t help but get into a good mood. UTMB employees are a great
bunch of people.
155.
I love working at UTMB because of my team: Kay Lovelace, Ernie
Calderon, Lynette Nallie, Bruce Kier, and Monica Crawford. Some I have
worked alongside for years, others are relatively new, but they are all a
pleasure and a blessing to work with, personally, as well as
professionally. I can trust them to do at the very least what they are
supposed to do and quite commonly, above and beyond the call of duty. They
always come through, doing what’s ultimately best for UTMB and for me.
156.
From the first day that I started working at UTMB as a temporary
employee, I knew this was the environment for me. Every time I walked
across campus, every face I saw greeted me with a smile and a pleasant
hello. Because I was guilty of not wearing my badge then, I could have
been a patient who needed that hello, which makes me feel good to be
associated with such friendly people who care!
157.
The benefits are excellent! I worked in the private sector for many
years, but it wasn’t until I came here that I realized how fortunate
UTMB employees really are. Here are a few examples: Medical/Dental
Benefits: In the private sector (a large percentage) are paid by you. UTMB
pays for our medical, and until recently, paid for dental as well.
Vacation: In the private sector 90 percent of companies provide 10 days
per year and those days don’t rollover. UTMB starts out with at least 1
day per month and it rolls over. Then, as an added incentive, they give
us...Personal Holiday Leave: 3 hours per month. (You don’t get that in
the private sector.) Sick Leave: In the private sector, most companies
provide only five days per year. UTMB provides us with 12, and it rolls
over. And to top off everything I just mentioned, as a bonus, UTMB
provides their employees with...(Drum roll, please!)... Longevity Pay: In
the private sector, what’s that? UTMB provides it to their employees as
an expression of appreciation for their loyalty. You can’t ask for much
more, and I don’t know of any other company that can top all that.
158.
My co-workers are a great team to be part of. We all have fun, and
most of all take pride in our work and customers.
159.
I like the different viewpoints and ideas that are brought out by
our many backgrounds. They tend to make me more open minded.
160.
I am very happy to work here because of the very supportive and
compassionate people that have shown me real concern and a feeling of
belonging and trust, in addition to making me feel my work is appreciated.
161.
I have a wonderful doctor that I am senior secretary to. He does
very interesting work and makes my job interesting. I also have a great
supervisor who allows me to learn the different areas within our division.
I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my position there. I can’t think of a
better place to work.
162.
It inspires me to know that my job, however small or substantial,
contributes to people’s health throughout Texas and across the nation.
163.
UTMB promotes education. Thanks to UTMB, I was able to complete my
Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, stay close to my
children while taking evening classes, and continue working to support my
family. Because of the educational promotion with assistance in paying
tuition, I graduated debt free and was able to proceed in getting my MBA
in Health Care Management, which I am proud to say, I completed with a 4.0
GPA. I am a member of Delta Mu Delta, and have UTMB to thank for being a
part of my education.
164.
I’m proud to be able to contribute toward the mission of UTMB,
“Here for the health of Texas.” I feel UTMB has a very diverse group
of employee’s and it is very comfortable and safe to know or feel
diversity is embraced here.
165.
I have a wonderful boss. She has taught me a lot here at U.T.M.B. I
have been here eight years and 10 months and she really shows me as an
employee how much I am appreciated. I have been blessed to have such
guidance. If everyone here on campus had a supervisor with the nature of
my supervisor, this would be a wonderful place to work! I also really
enjoy my job!
166.
I love working at UTMB because of the smiles on patients’ faces
when I’m able to help them.
167.
I get to practice my Spanish on a daily basis.
168.
We still remember how to help the needy.
169.
My co-workers are the coolest in the world!
170.
The value of humanity is preserved, while technology increases.
171.
The employees are so friendly and always ready to teach you
something new...
172.
People at all levels seem to genuinely take an interest in you.
They encourage you when you’re trying to attain goals. They offer you
help and advice. They make you feel like you matter.
173.
People everywhere are friendly—in my unit, at the cafeteria, in
the halls, everywhere! It is the reason I chose to work here one year ago,
and I still love it!
174.
Everybody here is so loving and caring not just for our patients
but for each other. Sometimes I feel better than at home and this has been
the best place I have ever worked for. I hope my kids grow up to be able
to work for UTMB and make working for UTMB a family tradition. I would not
change working here for any thing in the world. I LOVE IT HERE.
175.
I love the benefits.
176.
I like being associated with a university setting...though I mainly
deal with the business aspect, I know that this is just a part of working
for the good of of the whole university. I have almost 22 years of service
here, so I must enjoy it!
177.
I love working at UTMB because of the interaction with other
wonderful individuals who give so much of themselves to make a difference
to those we serve. Working here gives me those warm fuzzy feelings,
letting me know that I’m a part of the big picture here, where people
work together to help others. Thanks, UTMB.
178.
The caregivers have not forgotten the importance of caring for the
sick. UTMB still has a soul.
179.
Everyone cares. I am a new employee here, and I have noticed that
the people here care about things, people. They care about patients. They
care about policies and procedures. They care enough to make sure others
are trained in the right ways. They care about each other’s feelings,
about being courteous, and the personal and professional ways in which we
touch each others’ lives every day. They care about the image we present
to the outside world. They care about finding new ways to cure people and
new ways to advance research. They care about people inside and outside
the hospital, via volunteer work, art shows, clown troupes, special
Christmas visits. I’ve worked in other places, for large companies and
small ones. But, I don’t think I’ve ever worked anywhere where so many
people care.
180.
I get to choose my own schedule and work when I want to, that’s
why I like UTMB.
181.
The grounds are so pretty and well-cared for. The plantings make
imaginative use of a wide variety of materials and look nice throughout
the year. I think the landscape and grounds keepers do a great job.
182.
I love working at UTMB because of the stimulating atmosphere. Never
a dull moment!
183.
People from all over the world come here to learn, thus exposing
everyone here at UTMB to different cultures, and it is a great learning
experience. The opportunity to learn and grow with the university is a
great.
184.
I can ride my bike to work and to the fieldhouse to swim.
Year-round swimming is a great experience and contributes to my wellness
considerably. So, I love to work at UTMB because I have an available and
accessible fitness center that contributes to my wellness.
185.
I love to work at UTMB because we have flex-time here in our
department! I am now able to leave work for doctor or personal
appointments and make up the time during the week with out having to
request time off. The flexibility saves me and my department time and
money. I love this extra opportunity and I never want to look for another
job!!!
186.
My department and supervisor have been very supportive of me going
to nursing school in the Work Study Program. The flexibility and support
of my co-workers and supervisor have been a huge help while attending
school and still maintaining a 40 hour/week salary. I believe it helps my
studies to continue learning at work and at school.
187.
UTMB has this wonderful orientation program in the Open Gates
Mansion... where else can there be a registration desk which has a Tiffany
lamp over it!
188.
Everyone is like family. I feel good and it makes me proud to be
connected to so many different people in all professions who are making so
many wonderful and great things happen for the Health of Texas. The people
here have a way of making you feel like there isn’t a better place to
be. That life is good!
189.
There are many things in life that are hard to fix. My job is to
fix customer complaints with the billing experiences here at UTMB. I
really like my job because 9 times out of 10 it can be fixed within a day.
The patient is usually satisfied and happy by the end of the call. This is
very rewarding to me because there are so few things in life and in our
field that can be so easily fixed.
190.
It has a great work ethic which aligns with my personal ethics...
so I do not have to have an excuse to do what I love.
191.
UTMB is on the cutting edge of science and caring.
192.
You never get BORED! You have the opportunity of meeting new
patients on a daily basis that require different medical attention and you
get a chance to always show your strong side....A POSITIVE ATTITUDE.
193.
I have an opportunity to work with students who are enthusiastic
about learning and dedicated to patient care. They inspire me!
194.
It’s only a 25 minute drive for me vs. much longer drives that I
have had previously and the fact that I can view the Gulf of Mexico along
the way makes it even better!
195.
UTMB has provided me the opportunity to get the education I needed
to move forward in my job. I also feel the benefits such as vacation, sick
leave, personal holiday leave and holidays are generous. I am proud to say
I work at UTMB. I feel UTMB has a multitude of opportunities for those who
work hard to make this institution the best it can be.
196.
What other office complex can you work at that offers: beautiful
grounds to walk through, an exercise facility, great benefits-particularly
for a first year employee,WOW!!! The pay scale is reasonable and the
activities are designed to make the patient and caregiver feel great!! Not
too many companies offer this kind of package.
197.
There is opportunity for advancement and to learn. Education is
encouraged.
198.
I love working at UTMB because of the multi-cultural backgrounds of
the working staffs and students that makes it so unique as an institution.
199.
Everyone here is so friendly. When I walk down the hall there is
always someone saying “Hi,” or “How are you today?” That really
makes my day, especially when things are not going my way.
200.
My two kids were brought into the world healthy, happy and with
care by the people at UTMB. I’ll always love this place for these
“gifts.”
