201.       The department that I’ve worked for the past 17 years, they are tough but the rewards are wonderful!!

206.       In comparison,we have some of the best benefits: insurances, accumulated time off and retirement. When I started here 40 years ago I was told if you stay and work at UTMB long enough, you can work anywhere. This is more true today because the demand for training is greater in every department. The work/school program and so many other programs in with Galveston college are available if you have the ambition to move up. And some promotions are given due to hard work, dependability and experience.

208.       My co-workers are concerned with doing the best job they can. We work together as a team to accomplish our goals.

209.       The great feeling that I get when I know I have helped someone, whether it be a patient, student, co-worker, visitor or vendor.

211.       There is no reward like the smile on a child's face when you have made their day. The WIC department is required to prick a child's finger to check their iron count. It’s not easy to get a child to smile when you have pricked their finger. I love to be able to make someone’s day better than it was before they came to see us.

212.       My boss Stephenie Pharr is the epitome of a perfect team leader and a shining example of UTMB’s Principles of Service in action. She is professional, personable, intelligent, and compassionate. She inspires us, she educates us, and she shows her appreciation for our work. If someone on the team flubs up, she listens to our explanation, acknowledges that we accept accountability, and offers advice on how to improve ourselves and our work process. And when we need a voice, she is a supportive representative who goes to bat for us and backs us 100 percent. Working with Stephenie makes my job very rewarding. She is truly an asset to UTMB. All my friends know I love to work at UTMB because my boss rocks!

225.       Of the people—there are some of the nicest people I have ever come across here, and they are so willing to accept you into their family, and everywhere you go someone gives you a warm smile. It’s a GREAT way to make a person feel as if they belong.

226.       Good support services. We might have complaints, but they’re usually minor ones. Generally speaking, the well-organized housekeeping, maintenance, computer services, food service, police and others create a good environment for us to perform our primary task, which for me is coding inpatient medical records.

227.       I am shown every day of how blessed I am. I am very grateful for having this opportunity. I work with caring and kind people. I just want to let you know how fortunate I am to be working for the University of Texas Medical Branch. UTMB is good!

228.       I can ride my bike to work, helping to reduce the air pollution in the Galveston/Houston Area.

229.       I love to work at UTMB because of all the educational opportunities offered to me. There is tuition reimbursement, work school and inservices offered on campus. Also, UTMB is one of the premier health universities in the country so if you want to go back to school you don’t have to travel far for excellence.

230.       What I love about working for UTMB is it gives me the opportunity to experience new and exciting things in the medical field.

231.       We are a big family helping other families in need not only within our own city, but statewide. I personally feel that it is a honor and am proud to be a UTMB employee.

232.       Because UTMB has the state of the art patient care system. Because I have developed a sense of belonging here at UTMB. Because UTMB cares about our people here at UTMB and our patients outside of UTMB. Because UTMB is equipped with the best brains in the business, and here I shall stay. Thank you.

234.       I was born and raised in this community. I lived in San Antonio for eight years just after graduating La Marque High School. I served in the Air Force as a Medical Technician and began college at UTSA. In 1992, I decided that I wanted to work in the community that I grew up in. I have received a B.S. in Health Care Administration and a B.S. in Nursing from UTMB. The opportunities are limitless. It feels good to have made these accomplishments and to be a contributing member of the UTMB Faculty Group Practice.

235.       I love the job I do. I like math and working with numbers. I do Medicare billing.

236.       The UTMB community is one big happy family. We all work together and support each other just like family. The warmth and camaraderie that exists among each of us in this family makes it a great place to be and to work.

240.       I love children! I worked in insurance for 30 years before starting to work for UTMB. Pediatrics is where I belong!!

241.       As I am driving in to work, I see shrimp boats heading towards the bay.

242.       I am proud to be affiliated with a health care center with the reputation of UTMB. I’m always proud when I read a thank you note from a patient for the type of the personalized care they received while I was at UTMB, and know personally of the type of care when my own father was a patient here. I recommend UTMB all the time to my friends and relatives. I believe that the medical care one can get here is comparable to anywhere in the United States.

243.       I learn new things every day. Library users ask interesting questions, my co-workers are skilled problem solvers, and I’m sitting on a mountain of scientific literature, that gets bigger every day. You can’t help learning!

244.       I feel like I learn something new every day.

246.       I enjoy helping people who live in the same community.

247.       They have programs that cater to employees such as furthering education, island transit free bus shuttle and more, but most of all there are so many great opportunities for advancement; so therefore I look forward to working here for many, many years to come and one day retire.

248.       UTMB has a rich tradition of over one century of caring for Texans, many with no where else to turn. It has trained more physicians in Texas than all others. It is one of the leading health sciences research centers in the country. I am proud to be a part of UTMB’s past, present, and future.

249.       We are a diverse group of individuals who come together each day at a place known as “UTMB” in order to provide a place of healing and enlightenment to our community and the world at large. I especially love being in the department I am in. It is a joy and pleasure to work with the people I work with. I really feel we are a “true family” and care about the work that we do, as well as caring about each other. I feel if all departments at UTMB could be like ours we, collectively, would have a lot more energy to use in the healing of our world. I love UTMB!

250.       The management in my department is the best that I have ever experienced. Every morning I look forward to coming to work just for that reason!
