About the Staff
Sarah A. Ziegler, M.S., Ph.D.
Sarah A. Ziegler, M.S., Ph.D. is a Sr. Laboratory Biosafety Training Specialist for the Laboratory Biosafety Training Program, a component of UTMB's National Biocontainment Training Center.
Sarah has worked for over 5 years in biocontainment at UTMB. She received her Ph.D. from the department of Pathology working with alphaviruses. She did a post-doctoral fellowship working with Rift Valley Fever virus. She has experience in BSL2, BSL3 and BSL3-E in vitro, with live animals, and mosquito vectors.
Sarah received her Bachelor's and Masters of Science in biochemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her Master's degree studies were focused on cancer cell research. She has presented both posters and orally at national conferences including ASTMH and has research publications in AJTMH, VBZD and J Clin Invest.
