The Global Health Inter-Professional Core Course

Dr. Nolen founded and was director of the Global Health Inter-professional Core Course (GHICC) in the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years. The GHICC is UTMB’s first inter-professional global health course, open to students in all four schools at UTMB. It was also the first course in the University of Texas System to integrate training of students from so many health professions programs into one global health course.

Bringing together key faculty in leadership positions from across all four UTMB schools and a number of Centers, the curriculum provides an overview of critical issues in understanding global health challenges in contemporary society and focuses on key skills that will be in high demand for global health workers in the future.
