HDEART Health Disparities and Social Justice Workshop: Creating a health workforce to address health equity in the US
For the past nine years, the Health Disparities, Education, Awareness, Research and Training (HDEART) Consortium has brought together academic and health care institutions to address health disparities. The consortium now includes over thirty institutions across Texas and beyond. The CEHD has served as the institutional representative for UTMB since the Consortium’s inception. A key activity for HDEART has been an annual week-long workshop, sponsored by the Center for Health Equity & Evaluation Research at the University of Houston and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. The CEHD staff has provided lectures for several years, and began financially and academically sponsoring UTMB student participants for the last two years.
