International Leadership in Health Equity

In 2009, Dr. Nolen was elected to the Board of the International Society for Equity in Health. In September of 2011, ISEqH held its 6th International Conference in Cartagena, Colombia.
The long list of partners and supporters of the conference included the Inter-American Development Bank, the Kellogg Health Scholars Program, the Latin American Center of Human Economy, the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico, the National University of Colombia and of Costa Rica, the Pan American Health Organization, UNICEF, IDRC, and the World Bank, among many others.
In addition to supporting the organization of the conference, the CEHD made two presentations at the conference on the topics of the GHAP project and the potential of such an approach to be integrated into international disaster recovery efforts, and on the Environmental Justice and Cumulative Risk work in Port Arthur. The latter led to a publication in the International Journal for Equity in Health.
