The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston’s (UTMB Health) mission is to improve health for the people of Texas and around the world. UTMB Health is an inclusive, collaborative community of forward thinking educators, scientists, clinicians, staff, and students dedicated to a single purpose—improving health. UTMB Health continues to shape the future of health sciences education, research and clinical care by always asking, “What’s next?”

We began our EBP journey in 1999A clinical inquiry model, called Disciplined Clinical Inquiry (DCI©), was developed. DCI© was road-tested using participatory action research, and was fine-tuned using a series of systematic inquiries and pilot studies. DCI© mainstreams EBP through multi-media approaches capped with innovative web-based learner-driven inquiry, congruent systems development, and knowledge translation strategies that jointly meet organizational and nurses' needs to "be the best".

We remain steadfast in our commitment to bring the best evidence from the bench to the bedside. We developed a dedicated one-stop DCI© website that nurses can access in learning, applying and evaluating EBP. Consistent with the process of inquiry being taught, we employed a systematic process in validating novel learning pathways that link EBP to promoting a culture of innovation.

We have shared our innovations and challenges in national and international conferences. We have published. Now, we want you to hear first-hand about our shared experiences and latest innovations during our first EBP Conference: Surfing the Waves of EBP on April 25-26, 2013.

You will learn all about these victories from those who developed, implemented, supported, and used DCI©.
