Overview

Michael Thanh Nguyen, M.D. is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. His family has been in Galveston since the early 1980's. His educational background includes BS degrees in Biology and Psychology at the University of Houston. He also has research and postgraduate studies in Molecular Biology. From there, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. There, he did research in familial hypercholesteremia. Returning to Galveston, he finished his training at UTMB. He joined the faculty group initially as a hospitalist and teaching physician. He later transitioned fulltime to the outpatient clinical setting.

Global Health

The UTMB Center for Global Health Education (CGHE) is dedicated to the training of tomorrow's global health work force to improve health for the people of Texas and around the world. The department of internal medicine is developing evidence based clinical protocols which will be available in EPIC (as order sets) for use when admitting patients with these diagnoses. Their AIM is to standardize care and decrease length of stay and readmission rates.
