Objectives:Knowledge and Skills Objective: to learn about the practice of Pediatrics in a Texas community setting. Career Development Objective: to identify characteristics and scope of Pediatric practice in a specific community; and the potential lifestyle of a physician in a community setting Advocacy Objective: to identify the roles pediatricians might play in a community, including patient/family advocate, public or community health monitor, or community leader. Healthcare Systems/ Practice Management Objective: to learn more about issues of practice management and health care systems, such as billing issues, professional communication with a variety of healthcare providers, and accessing systems of support for patients and families. Service Learning Objective: to learn something about the healthcare needs of the children and families in this community; and to learn about and contribute to some children/youth/family-serving agency(ies) in this community (i.e. engage in service learning). |
