1.25 Proper Use of Scrub Suits and Dresses

Purpose

To provide a consistent policy for wearing scrub suits.

Audience

All employees of UTMB Hospitals and Clinics, contract workers, volunteers, and students

Policy

Scrub suits may be worn by UTMB employees as allowed by the employees’ departmental dress code. Scrub suits are not to be used as personal protective equipment to protect the employee from exposure to blood and body fluids. If an employee’s scrub suit becomes soiled from blood or body fluids the scrub suit is to be changed as soon as possible after the exposure and laundered by the hospital.
