1.29 Shoe Covers

Purpose

To provide guidelines for the use of shoe covers

Audience

All employees of UTMB hospitals and clinics, contract workers, volunteers, and students

Policy

Shoe covers should not be worn

Individuals participating in surgery or other procedures where a patient’s blood or body fluids may contaminate their feet should wear knee-high disposable boots

Knee-high disposable boots should be changed when soiled.
