Eligibility for Re-employment Process

Policy

Former UTMB employees may be considered for rehire with approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer or designee.

Guidelines

In compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, UTMB strives to maintain an environment which does not discriminate against employees on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

Former employees who resigned voluntarily, retired, or were subject to a reduction-in-force are eligible for rehire.

Employees terminated for cause or who resigned in lieu of termination may only be eligible for rehire after providing documentation of twelve months continuous employment with another employer. Additional considerations used in determining rehire eligibility include:

    • Documentation of reason(s) for termination or planned termination from UTMB.

    • Work history while employed at UTMB.

    • Satisfactory work history with another employer of 12 months since leaving UTMB as documented in a letter of reference from that employer.

    • Responsibilities of last position with UTMB.

    • Type of position being applied for.

Prospective hiring manager will be notified by HR Recruitment if applicant has worked previously for UTMB. It is the hiring manager’s responsibility to review employment file before making a hiring decision.
