Audience

The information in this document is for use by all employees.

Policy

Departments requesting removal of salvage property from their inventory records may do so by submitting a memorandum to the Inventory Division which contains:

- Inventory number

- Description

- Present location (building and exact room number)

- Specific reason for discarding the property

- Approval signature of department head

Definition

Salvage property is defined as property which is either:

- broken beyond economical repair, or

- so obsolete that it will not perform its intended function.

Removal of Property from Records

The Inventory Division prepares an Inventory Deletion form and obtains approval signatures from the department head and the Accountable Property Manager.

Upon receipt of approvals, the Inventory Division removes the property from the inventory records. Disposal method

must be approved by the department head/chairman.

Salvaging

If parts from the property to be removed can be used on other property, this must be stated in the memorandum to the Inventory Division, and this will be noted on the Inventory Deletion form.

Parts cannot be removed until the Inventory Division has notified the department that approvals have been obtained from the department head and the Accountable Property Manager.
