Signage and Wayfinding Approval

Audience

The information in this document is for use by all UTMB personnel.

Policy

It is the policy of UTMB that no temporary or permanent signage or wayfinding graphics may be installed without prior review and approval by Facilities Operations and Management. This policy will help to assure compliance with regulatory mandates, code issues, and to maintain consistency with University established guidelines and brand identity standards.

This policy covers temporary and permanent signage used in (1) interior of all UTMB public corridors, waiting rooms, lobby areas, etc.; (2) exterior signage such as directional signs and building identification; (3) signage required by legal mandates; (4) campus maps; and (5) all signage used at UTMB’s offsite facilities and clinics.

Procedure

All requests for temporary or permanent signage and/or wayfinding graphics must be submitted in writing to Facilities Operations and Management for appropriate review and approval. To provide adequate time for such review and approval prior to installation, please allow no less than two weeks. When circumstances arise where two weeks advance time is not feasible, contact Facilities Operations and Management as soon as possible to expedite the approval process. Their office may also be contacted for assistance during development of any signage and/or wayfinding graphics.
