Campus Security Reporting

    Audience

The information in this document is for use by all employees and students

    Policy

In compliance with the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act (the Act) 20 U.S.C. Sections 1092 (a), (e) and (f), as amended. The University of Texas Medical Branch collects specified information on campus crime statistics and campus security policies.

Pursuant to federal law, alleged victims of violent crimes are entitled to know the results of campus student disciplinary proceedings concerning the alleged perpetrators.

    Guidelines

UTMB releases timely information to the campus community concerning serious crimes considered to be a threat to students and employees and reported to campus police or local police agencies. This information may be gathered from reports made directly to University Police, or from reports to local police agencies who may provide such information to University Police. University Police coordinated the release of these reports through the Office of University Advancement.

Every October, UTMB will provide an annual report of campus security policies and crime statistics to all current students and employees; provide copies of the report to the applicants for enrollment or employment, upon request; and submit a copy of the report to the Secretary of Education. The annual campus crime statistics report will reference crimes which occur on property owned or controlled by UTMB and may be supplemented by listing crimes which occur off of the campus in buildings or on property owned or controlled by student organizations that are registered by the institution when such statistics are available from local police departments. This report is available online at the following URL address; http://www2.utmb.edu/securityreport/statistics.htm

UTMB will include in the annual security report, its policy regarding sex-related offense, including sexual assault prevention programs, education programs to promote awareness of sex offenses,

Administrative, disciplinary procedures and sanctions for offenders,

And counseling and student services for victims.
