Reproductive/Fertility Hazards in the Work Place

Policy

Employees and students working with either hazardous materials or procedures will be informed of potential known risks, including reproductive/fertility risks and risks to the fetus.

Guidelines

• It is the responsibility of departmental management and supervisors to ensure that UTMB employees and students are informed of the reproductive/fertility risks in their work place.

• The primary source of information for chemical related risks will be the Material Safety Data Sheet supplied by the manufacturer of the chemical.

• Employees and students who wish to review reproductive/fertility risks are encouraged to contact their supervisor regarding known hazards to which they may be exposed.

• Upon request by any student, employee or supervisor, Environmental Health & Safety will review work practices and evaluate potential exposure. If needed, Environmental Health & Safety will recommend changes in work practices, engineering controls, or personal protective equipment to reduce exposure to the hazard.
