Clinical interests: Dr. Brown specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the liver and pancreas, with an emphasis on laparoscopic and robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery. This includes pancreatic cancer, pancreatic cystic tumors, pseudocysts, and neuroendocrine tumors; primary liver tumors (hepatocellular, bile duct, and gallbladder cancer), tumors metastatic to the liver such as colorectal cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, or carcinoid tumors, and other liver tumors such as liver cysts, adenomas, and focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH). Dr. Brown also performs general gastrointestinal surgery including the treatment of gallstones and colon cancer.
Research interests: Dr. Brown is the Director of the UTMB Surgical Simulation Center, with an interest in using simulation to achieve and document competence in advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgery.E-mail: kim.brown@utmb.edu
