Health Care Without Harm

UTMB Earth Day Celebration

 Moody Medical Library Plaza

The UTMB Conservation Initiatives has a rich history of celebrating its accomplishments during the annual Earth Day event on campus. Marking its eighteenth year, the 2010 event will focus on the conservation efforts we apply during daily operations. UTMB is dedicated to conserving and preserving our environment.  Employees from across campus and the neighboring community will be invited to Earth Day Celebration at the Library Plaza to learn how they can support UTMB’s extensive conservation efforts.  

  • Earth Day theme “The Green Generation”...UTMB will plant trees, recycle, use less energy, conserver water, become more sustainable and educate the UTMB family how to live green healthy lives.

  • Galveston Island Beach Cleanup organized by UTMB Students on April 24th, 9a.m. – 11a.m. @ Big Reef Beach

  • Extend an invitation for volunteers to join UTMB’s earth friendly event while enjoying a day of camaraderie and learn how they can make a green difference on campus.

  • UTMB green exhibitors; Environmental Health & Safety, Utilities Conservation Initiatives, Facilities & Campus Services Maintenance, Logistics, Sodexho, Morrison.

  • Office Swap Shop offers members of the campus community a way to exchange their surplus supplies and materials with others.

  • Prize will be given to whom wears the oldest UTMB recycle T-shirt.

  • 6000 donated native tree seedlings from ArborGen will be given out by volunteers and shared with Texas Medical Center.

  • Volunteers will receive a Earth Day Mug.  Volunteer sign-up

  • Water and light refreshments will be served.

Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the environment.  Help us share the beauty of nature by sending in your favorite Earth Day photos. All photos will be showcased in the April 27th edition of Impact in honor of Earth Day. Please send all photos to impact.newsletter@utmb.edu by Friday April 23.
