CHRISTUS New Horizons

Education, Recovery....A New Beginning
Providing comprehensive residential care to individuals transitioning from chemical dependence to chemical independence, New Horizons gives its clients the hope and stability necessary to recover from chemical abuse.

New Horizons offers just that to its clients-new horizons. An outreach ministry of CHRISTUS Health, New Horizons is a unique center in Galveston, specifically designed and staffed to create a supportive atmosphere for men and women committed to recovery. With a high staff-to-client ratio, semi-private rooms, adjacency to the medical center and affordable fees, New Horizons can equip each individual with the skills and environment necessary for independence.

LICENSED PROFESSIONALS, COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES
The center's licensed, caring mental-health professionals provide a comprehensive range of services. Chemical dependency education from the NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) and CSAT (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment), individualized counseling and 24-hour staff assistance that includes a physician for psychiatric consults or crisis help assist the client's recovery while inside the Center. The 12-step support groups, recreational therapy, work orientation and basic training in money management prepare the client for life outside the Center.

All residents receive personalized assistance by staff members who guide, counsel and support them in a home-like setting. As a family unit, residents share house responsibilities and participate in group activities. Individual motivation is nurtured by a system of program levels, awarding recognition for the achievement of personal goals.

FLEXIBLE LENGTH OF STAY
Though the majority of residents remain in the New Horizons program for 90 days, that time frame certainly depends on the particular needs of the client. Some clients require less time and education, while others might need more than 90 days of support.
