This site contains information about community learning experiences for health professions students. It contains information about medical practices in Texas communities that provide learning experiences for health professions students needing to complete community rotations. The site includes information about community faculty / preceptors and describes the unique learning experience at each setting. Community information, service learning opportunities, and information on housing for students is also provided. Students can search this website by discipline, specialty, course they are enrolled in, or by a community to find a learning experience of their choice.
Students should click on the student tab at the top of this page for instructions on how to search for a practice and schedule a rotation.
The East Texas Area Health Education Center seeks to improve the supply and distribution of the healthcare workforce by supporting the placement of health professions students in community settings throughout our 111-county region in the eastern half of Texas. Students complete required coursework in a community, taught by local physicians and health professionals. We believe that integration in to the community during real-life educational experiences can have a positive impact on a student to return to that area to work.
