Coastal AHEC works with Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Hardin, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, and Orange counties seeking to improve the health of our population, especially the underserved, by creating partnerships among community and academic organizations. We link health care resources to build and strengthen community-based education programs. A regional Advisory Board of Directors guides the Coastal AHEC in it's mission.

To enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventative care, by improving the supply and distribution of health care professionals through community/academic educational partnerships.

We link health care resources to enhance primary health care development through health careers promotion, community-based health professions education, and continuing education for practicing health professionals, as well as educational and development programs that support community health systems development.
Lake Country AHEC is staffed by a center director, program coordinators, administrative office staff, and special projects coordinators.
The Lake Country AHEC office is located in Tyler, Texas, on the campus of The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler, but serves 24 Northeast Texas counties with an ultimate goal of improved health for all area citizens.

Pecan Valley AHEC is a non-profit organization that identifies medically underserved populations and works with communities to address the maldistribution of health professionals. Pecan Valley AHEC works in 21 counties, prioritizing those areas that are medically underserved and have the greatest needs.

Mission: Piney Woods AHEC seeks to improve the health of our communities by developing a quality health workforce and helping address unmet health needs. Introduction: The Piney Woods AHEC region, also referred to as "Deep East Texas" by area residents, is in the center of Texas¡¯ large commercial timber production. The region encompasses 19 counties covering more than 13,000 square miles.
The economy is heavily dependent on the forest products industry. Paper, lumber, and wood products are all produced from raw materials to finished products within the region.
Major agricultural products include fruits, vegetables, and hay, as well as cattle, horses, pigs, and chickens. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is headquartered in Walker County and has several prison facilities located within the region. Recreational activities focus on hunting and water sports.
