Helen Jordan, Ed.D., R.N., C.N.E. (2011)
Assistant Professor (School of Nursing)
Dr. Jordan received her EdD in Higher Education from the University of Houston and her Master’s and Baccalaureate Degrees from UTMB. Her nursing practice is adult health and her focus in education is curriculum development and evaluation. She currently teaches in the Master’s Program as the Track Director for Nursing Education.
To expand her knowledge and develop her expertise Dr. Jordan attends national and international conferences related to nursing through the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Texas A & M Assessment Conference, and the Association for Authentic Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning. She confirms her expertise in nursing education with her certification by the National League of Nursing.
During this year she has made podium presentations at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the National Organization for Nurse Practitioner Faculties. Her current focus is using the electronic portfolios to showcase student scholarship and capture elements for program evaluation.
Highlights for Dr. Jordan service within the UTMB community is in the School of Nursing as Chair of Faculty Assembly, member of the Faculty Senate for four years, the SACS initiative as Vice Chair of Mission and Governance Group and member of the QEP, and has served on the Board for Sigma Theta Tau- Alpha Delta chapter since 2008. She began the MSN Nursing Education Program in 2005 and has developed the online curriculum for that program. She currently teaches all courses online using technology to enhance the learning environment. She has received multiple awards at UTMB including Outstanding BSN Faculty Award – 2004, Faculty Excellence in Education Award, 2003, and Outstanding Mentor – Sigma Theta Tau – Alpha Delta Chapter 2008.
