Neuroscience and Cell Biology
Dr. Brian T. Miller is a Professor in the Division of Anatomy which is a component of the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Miller was raised in southern Wisconsin and received a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He completed his Ph.D. in Anatomy at the University of Texas Medical Branch and subsequently spent several years as a postdoctoral student and fellow at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where he also taught Gross Anatomy to first-year medical students. In 1986, Dr. Miller returned to UTMB where he is currently the Co-Director of the first-year Gross Anatomy and Radiology Course in the School of Medicine. Dr. Miller also directs the Selective in Anatomy for senior medical students and teaches Gross Anatomy to students in the UTMB School of Allied Health Sciences. In addition, he is the UTMB representative to the Anatomical Board of the State of Texas. Dr. Miller has received several teaching awards at UTMB including multiple “Best Teacher” (Jimmy Doyle Dickens Memorial) awards and The “Class of 1947” Excellence in Education Award. Over the past 20 years, the Gross Anatomy Course has won more “Best Course” Awards than any other basic science course at UTMB.
