Dr. Niebuhr’s professional mission is to help others be the best teachers they can be. To that end, she teaches others about teaching, including parents, pediatric residents, infant intervention specialists, and other health professionals committed to careers involving children. Dr. Niebuhr is a Professor in the School of Medicine (SOM) Department Pediatrics.  She is a licensed pediatric and school psychologist with a clinical practice at UTMB and also for UTMB’s infant intervention program, ECI LAUNCH.  Committed to faculty development, Dr. Niebuhr is an associate in the SOM Office of Educational Development where she is on the faculty for the Scholars in Education faculty development program.  For the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), she is faculty for the Educational Scholars Program (ESP), serves on the Education Committee, and is past-chair of the Faculty Development Special Interest Group.  She is currently the project director for Pediatric faculty development program, sponsored by HRSA’s Bureau of Health Professions, focused on technology for education.  Dr. Niebuhr is the Director of Educational Technology for Pediatrics.  For the Pediatric Residency Program, she teaches normal and abnormal development, professionalism, and technology applications.  For the School of Medicine, she teaches for Neurosciences and Human Behavior and co-directs a 4th-year selective in Ambulatory Community-based Pediatrics.
