Exit Conference Guidelines

An exit conference is held to communicate engagement results and potential recommendations to the client management. An agenda and the draft report should be provided to the client management prior to or at the meeting. Attendees should include the engagement team and members of management responsible for the activity being examined. The meeting should be held at or near the end of fieldwork.

The agenda, a summary of the topics discussed at the exit conference, the date of the meeting, and attendees (name and title) should be documented in the engagement workpapers. The topics of discussion should include the following:

  • Restatement of engagement objectives and scope of work
  • Engagement results, findings, and potential recommendations
  • Draft engagement report
  • Request for management responses and implementation dates for recommendations, if applicable
  • The present and next stage of the engagement
  • Timeline for final report issuance
  • Questions, concerns or any requests from client management
