Leave Request Policy
UTMB Audit Services employees must request vacation or other leave in advance in writing to the Management team member that is assigned responsibility for the engagement or project on which the employee will be assigned at the time of the requested leave. If the employee is currently not assigned at the time of the requested leave, written requests should be forwarded to their usual Manager. Requests to use Compensatory Time must be in writing and approved in advance by the Director of Audits or his designee unless compensatory time is taken in the same work week as it is earned. A UTMB Leave Request Form should be used for written leave requests. The employee taking approved leave is responsible for updating the Audit Services Calendar in Outlook with the leave information.
If the employee is unable to request time off in advance (e.g., illness, death in the family, etc.), the employee is required to notify UTMB Audit Services as soon as possible by calling the office main line (409)747-3273. Employees should also contact the office main line as soon as possible when coming into the office late. If no one is available to answer, the employee should always leave a voice message.
Scheduled leave is any leave that has been requested in advance and is accompanied by a UTMB Leave Request Form. Leave is considered unscheduled if written advance notice has not been delivered to the appropriate Management representative.
