UTMB's BIRCWH Program OverviewTradition of promoting women's healthThe University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) through the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Women's Health and with the support of numerous UTMB research centers, offices, divisions and their faculty are offering this NIH supported program for training assistant professors to become successful, independent clinical and translational investigators in women's health. The BIRCWH program provides salary support up to $75,000 and 75% protected time for a mentored research training experience. Duration of support is up to 2 years. At UTMB, research must focus on one of six training areas: Minority Health & Health Disparities, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease & Immunology, Addiction, Adolescent Health, and Geriatrics. Each focal area is supported by nationally recognized mentors, chosen for their research, mentoring records, and dedication to advancing interdisciplinary women's health research. To enhance interdisciplinary collaborations, BIRCWH scholars are encouraged to select a second mentor from another discipline. Eligible applicants may email a CV and a letter detailing their experience in women’s health. The UTMB BIRCWH Program is supported by a research career development award (K12HD052023:Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health Program-BIRCWH) from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and the Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health. | |||||||||||||||
