BIOLOGICAL SAFETY

1.1       Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) will:

• Recommend to management the safety training to be required at UTMB.
• Support individual safety training programs with technical expertise and direct participation in those programs.
• Monitor and make suggestions on safety training being conducted by other groups on campus.
• Review and update training programs as necessary.

1.2       Departmental Management will:

• Provide each new employee with safety orientation that meets the particular needs of the area and personnel involved.
• Provide safety training as required by the UTMB Safety Manual and/or other policies.
• Assign on-line training where applicable.
• Document safety training and orientation attended by personnel.

1.3       Staff/Students

Staff and students shall take the required safety orientation and safety training.
