The Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF) Libby Moody Thompson Basic Science Building

The facility occupies 6,200 square feet distributed over twelve laboratories and seven offices on the first and second floor of the Basic Science Building

The first laboratory in the facility was initially organized in 1975.

Support for the facility over the years has been provided by the UTMB Educational Cancer Center, NCI, NASA, NIH, the UTMB Administration, NSF, NIEHS as well as charge-back fees generated from analytical services provided by the cores.

The BRF was recently awarded a multi-million dollar, mulit-year contract as an NHLBI Proteomics Center for Airway Inflammation, one of ten awards made nationwide.

The facility director is Professor Alexander Kurosky and the 6 Cores employ 12 scientists and 4 administrative personnel
