Biomolecular Resource Facility Facts

• The Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF) Libby Moody Thompson Basic Science Building

• The facility occupies 6,200 square feet distributed over twelve laboratories and seven offices on the first and second floor of the Basic Science Building

• The first laboratory in the facility was initially organized in 1975.

• Support for the facility over the years has been provided by the  UTMB Educational Cancer Center, NCI, NASA, NIH, the UTMB Administration, NSF, NIEHS as well as charge-back fees generated from analytical services provided by the cores.

• The BRF was recently awarded a multi-million dollar, mulit-year contract as an NHLBI Proteomics Center for Airway Inflammation, one of ten awards made nationwide.

• The facility director is Professor Alexander Kurosky and the 6 Cores employ 12 scientists and 4 administrative personnel
