Mission Statement

In close collaboration with investigators, the Protein Synthesis and Biomarker Core provides services for the production and purification of bacterial and yeast proteins. Candidate biomarker validation is available using Ciphergen SELDI (Surface-Enhanced Laser Desorption ionization) methodology. A wide variety of chromatographic, and other purification methods are available to obtain a high level of protein purity suitable for protein structural studies as well as other applications. Protein homogeneity (quality control) is routinely assessed by SDS-PAGE and mass spectrometry. Other evaluation methods are also available upon request.
