UTMB Health executive leaders have been busy in Austin, testifying before House and Senate committees, in addition to meeting with numerous Legislators and state officials on an individual basis. Students Visit Capitol

More than 140 students from UTMB Health’s schools of medicine, nursing health professions and graduate biomedical sciences traveled to Austin March 1, 2011, to meet with lawmakers and discuss the importance of health sciences education in Texas. The trip was organized and funded by a group of private citizens who support UTMB Health and its mission.

UTMB Students Travel to Austin Video
A group of UTMB students, organized by Daniel Branch, travelled to Austin on March 1, 2011. The purpose of their trip was to meet with State Legislators regarding proposed cuts to the UTMB budget. The students are concerned that the budget cuts would effect their education, the quality of health care in Texas and the economy.
