Dr. Ronald McKinley’s 35-year career as a human resources professional spans a variety of industries, including health care, communications, food services and hospitality. He began his human resources management career in 1977 with Marriott Corporation in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of all management development and training for its quick-service restaurant division. After nine years with Marriott, he continued his career in the food services industry, serving as Director of Personnel for Taco Tico, based in Wichita, Kansas, and later working his way up to Vice President of Human Resources for the national chain Long John Silver's, with headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky.
In the mid-1990s, he served as Vice President of Human Resources for APAC Teleservices, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the second largest telephone-based service provider in the U.S. He later served as a principal with Williams and Company Consulting, one of the nation's largest business advisory firms, based in Kansas City, Missouri.
In January 2001, he joined Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as Vice President, Human Resources, a position he held for eight years. In Cincinnati, he was an integral part of creating and implementing a new strategic direction for the organization that led to double-digit growth. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Human Resources at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
In addition, he is widely published and has presented numerous times nationally on various topics related to human resources development, training, evaluation and management. He also served part-time on the faculty of Xavier University's Williams College of Business in Ohio for eight years, where he taught in both the undergraduate and the graduate business programs.
He holds a BS in Management from Upper Iowa University, an MBA in Human Resources Management from Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University in Chicago and a PhD in Administration and Management from Walden University in Minnesota. He also holds life certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He is married and has three grown children.
