ConnectYard Social Media-based Communications for Blackboard Learn
Tuesday, May 31, 2011 noon – 1 p.m.
Levin Hall 3.324

Please join us for the next installment of a monthly meeting series to discuss technological issues in education.

ConnectYard will demonstrate their two-way communication product that seamlessly integrates Facebook, Twitter and video as well as text messaging with Blackboard to better engage students and expand overall institutional communication.  The product will send Blackboard discussions and announcements to a medium of the student/faculty choosing, e.g. allowing a student to interact via Facebook while the instructor can use his/her Exchange email to post and read announcements and discussion posts.  This allows course communications without logging into Blackboard.  Faculty will be able to engage with students without having to "friend" them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, or exchange cell phone numbers.

“Centralizing social media communication within Blackboard Learn definitely drives greater student engagement. It allows students to digest the information in a way they choose while the professors can maintain a controlled and cohesive environment”
