UTMB Management Responsibilities Handbook

Resource Departments

Finance

The Finance Department provides financial services in support of the University’s mission of instruction, research, patient care, and public service. The office responsibilities include:

• Monitoring all financial and budgetary transactions to ensure compliance with all applicable    policies, procedures and regulations;
• Maintaining the payroll system;
• Management of the Time and Attendance System.
• Disbursing funds in payment of all non-payroll obligations;
• Collecting and managing receivables from external funding sources;
• Maintaining the General Ledger, the official book of accounts, and other required    accounting records;
• Preparing the legislative requests and the operating budget for submission to UT System    and the legislature;
• Preparing and distributing financial reports and statements for the entire campus;
• Maintaining, reconciling, and reporting on institutional fixed assets.

It is the goal of the Fiscal Services Department to fulfill the above responsibilities, while simultaneously providing financial services and advice to campus departments.
