UTMB Management Responsibilities Handbook

Resource Departments

FOAM - UTMB Police Department

The responsibility of the UTMB Police Department is to provide protection and service to the faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors of UTMB in conformance with the Regents Rules and Regulations, UTMB policies, or federal, state, or local laws and ordinances. The department also implements programs that are aimed at preserving the assets of UTMB.

Services:

Personnel Protection

      • Emergency Assistance – 24 hours/day
      • Monitoring and maintaining a sophisticated, computer-based, network of electronic          security systems
      • Safety Escorts for persons walking on campus after dark
      • Investigations of alleged crimes
      • Police Patrols of UTMB Facilities – 24 hours/day, 365 days per year
      • Issues UTMB Identification Cards & Keys
      • Coordinating the release of information about serious crimes that may threaten the          safety of students, employees, and patients

Crime Prevention

 • Provides crime prevention consultations and presentations

Property Protection

      • Monitor of UTMB property through Patrols
      • Police Communications – 24 hours/day
