| Use
of state-owned property. It is the responsibility
of each of us to preserve UTMB’s assets, including time, materials,
supplies, equipment, and information. Institutional assets must
be used only for state purposes. As a general rule, the personal
use of any UTMB asset is prohibited. The occasional use of items,
such as e-mail and telephones, where there is no additional cost
to UTMB, is permissible. A local phone call is an example. Any
use of UTMB resources for personal financial gain is prohibited.
Information regarding the use of state-owned property may be obtained
via the Internet at http://www.utsystem.edu/BPM/53.htm
Use
of UTMB computers. Your computer hardware and
software should be used only for state work-related tasks. See
UTMB IHOP polices 2.13.6, Electronic Mail, and 2.19.6 Information
Resources Security on the UTMB web site, http://www.utmb.edu/policy/
Use
of the Internet. Access to the Internet via institutional
computers is for institutional purposes. Incidental personal use
not interfering with work responsibility, however, is not a misapplication
of state resources. Employees who improperly or illegally use
the Internet may lose their privileges and be subject to disciplinary
action. Please refer to the following U.T. System web site for
more information http://www.utsystem.edu/ogc/ethics/ethguide.htm
Long
Distance phone calls. Employees may not charge
personal long distance phone calls to UTMB. Employees should make
other arrangements to charge long distance phone calls that are
for personal reasons, for example by using a calling card or personal
cell phone.
Excessive personal use of any telephone during your normal work
time is not appropriate. |
