Project at a Glance

SAHS/SON LOBBY RENOVATION MAP

Project Objective: Enhance lobby area, meet ADA guidelines

Start Date: April 2006

Anticipated Completion*: August 2006

Construction Impact: TBD

Project Description:
Renovations focused on the building's lobby area.

* Please remember that construction timetables are subject to variables such as weather. The university and its contractors are always motivated to complete projects quickly, safely, properly and with minimal disruption. We always appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to build a better UTMB.

Phase II of the lobby renovation will begin in late April; the construction zone will be separated from public areas by temporary walls until August 2006.

The main entry doors on the front of the building will not be available for use during construction. Students, faculty and visitors will be directed to entrances on the northeast and northwest sides. Access to the quad classrooms will be gained through southeast, southwest and west side doors, but entry into the lobby from the quad classrooms will be blocked. The main door to the Greenhouse Cafeteria will also be inaccessible; patrons should use the door on the north side of the cafeteria to gain entrance. One elevator will be out of service on the first floor only.

Because the first floor ladies restroom will be inaccessible during construction, the first floor mens restroom will be temporarily redesignated as a ladies restroom. Appropriate signage will be posted.

Directional signage will be placed throughout the building on entry doors, etc. directing visitors, faculty, staff and students to alternate routes to the elevators and restrooms.
