Café on the Court Grand Opening
Monday, May 2
Café on the Court
You’ve
heard the banging, been routed to and fro, and walked through clouds of garlic
and ginger fumes in the hospital hallway. Your patience has been rewarded. Drs.
John Stobo and Karen Sexton, members of the Morrison’s team and others
celebrated the official grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new
Café on the Court on
Monday, May 2 at 9:15 a.m. The new cafeteria is stunning, and it offers an
equally exciting new menu.
When Café
on the Court re-opened, OJs closed for the second phase of this project. OJs
will be renovated and upgraded, and Quizno’s and Chick-Fil-A outlets will
be introduced. Parts of the wall currently separating OJs from Café on the Court
will be removed, allowing diners to pass freely from one area to the other.
During
this second phase of construction, the Outakes Café Room, in Rm. 1.111 of the
John Sealy Annex (across from OJs), will continue to offer a deli, “grab ‘n’ go”
salads and pickup of online orders weekdays from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Showtime
Cooking, which was being offered in the hospital main hallway near Children’s
Hospital, will be discontinued.
Below
are some images
of the construction and a sneak peek at the new cafeteria…

Big changes are in store
for Café on
the Court. The old cafeteria, pictured above, closed for renovations Dec 3; the grand
re-opening is set for Monday, May 2.

Several
new food stations and a new way to display food are part of the renovated
cafeteria. The color scheme is fresh and bold.

This view
looks over toward the seating area; the white wall at the rear of this photo is
the wall that will be partially removed to allow access to OJs.
Note the old carpet is gone.
See the work as it took place, in our project photo
gallery.
Workers made steady progress in their floor-to-ceiling
overhaul of Cafe on the Court. The first images in the set were taken on Dec. 6,
the morning after the cafeteria closed, and them throughout the construction.
