John Sealy Hospital Entrance
Project at a Glance
Update, Dec. 1, 2003: As part of the work on the University Plaza—the new parking facility and loop road on the east end of campus—a small section of the campus between the Administration Building and the John Sealy Hospital (below) will close beginning the first week in December. The east entrance to the John Sealy Hospital will also close, to allow workers to level out the surrounding terrain, install drainage and complete the walkway. The main hospital entrance will not be affected. Some foot traffic may be redirected through the Administration Building or through the main hospital complex. Work should be complete in a few weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support as we build a better UTMB.
Project Objective: Enhanced
visitor/patient access, better vehicular traffic flow, better access to and
from parking garage Construction Impact: Road detours, road closure, temporary closure of main John Sealy Hospital entrance Project Description: Demolition of Administration Annex, reconstruction of circle in front of hospital entrance, installation of new revolving entrance door. (see image). Adjacent parking garage will stay open throughout project. Patients and visitors will be directed to hospital side entrance, on courtyard. Hospital drop-off will be temporarily relocated to Children's Hospital, on Ninth Street. Images of progress on Nov.
