Project at a Glance

City of Galveston Water TankProject Objective: Maintenance and renovation of water tank owned by the City of Galveston.

Start Date: December 2002

Anticipated Completion*: Spring 2003

Construction Impact: Heavy work in immediate area; restrictions on pedestrian and vehicular access in area.

Project Description:
On Monday, Nov. 4, contractors working for the City of Galveston began maintenance and renovation on the large white water tank on the northeast end of the UTMB campus, at the intersection of Harborside and Holiday drives. This is a major project and will have an impact on that corner of the campus, and includes the temporary closure of the southern-most lane of Harborside Drive and the adjacent sidewalk. Through a partnership with the city, as the renovation nears completion the new UTMB logo will be painted on the water tower. This project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2003.

* Please remember that construction timetables are subject to variables such as weather. The university and its contractors are always motivated to complete projects quickly, safely, properly and with minimal disruption. We always appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to build a better UTMB.
