Core Committee for the
Support of Underrepresented Ethnic Groups
The
University of Texas System recommended each component create a core
committee with the responsibility of focusing on ways to support and
increase the number of minority faculty and administrators.
President Stobo created the Core
Committee for the Support of Underrepresented Ethnic Groups in 1997 as a
result. He charged the committee with the responsibility to design
strategies that would aid in the recruitment and retention of minority
persons in faculty and administrative positions at UTMB.
Additionally, the committee was charged with the task of encouraging and
supporting activities which seek to improve relationships between
majority and minority staff.
