ADA Committee
The purpose of this group is to advocate for individuals who work, visit, and study on this campus and may have a disability. This committee evaluates the campus climate for those persons with disabilities and makes recommendations for necessary improvements to the Diversity Council.

Core Committee for the Advancement of Women Faculty and Administrators
The core committee for the advancement of women faculty and administrator's charge is to assess the degree of fairness, equity, diversity and collegiality for women in academia and administration at UTMB and to recommend changes to the president when inequities are identified. http://www.utmb.edu/corecommitteewomen/

Core Committee for the Support of Underrepresented Ethnic Groups
The committee is charged with the responsibility to design strategies to aid in the recruitment and retention of minority persons in faculty and administrative positions at UTMB and to encourage and support activities that improve relationships among majority and minority groups.  http://www.utmb.edu/corecommethnicgroups/

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Straight Alliance

Mission Statement: To build community through social and educational activities. 

Institutional Diversity Council – The Diversity Council supports these objectives: employing and educating a workforce that mirrors the diverse populations; creating an environment where everyone--regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, physical capability, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or cultural background--can be a productive member of the community and feel rewarded and respected for the part they play in the success of the institution. www.utmb.edu/DiversityCouncil/default.htm

SAFE Project

The SAFE Project is a network of students, faculty and staff at the University of Texas Medical Branch who are supportive of individuals who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or questioning their sexual orientation (GLBTQ). 

Support Staff Professionals
The object of the organization shall be to stimulate a feeling of fellowship and cooperation among the administrative support staff professionals at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and to promote educational seminars, programs, service projects, and socials adapted to the interest of the members and to the mission of the University. http://www.utmb.edu/ssp/

Understanding Religious Diversity Task Force
Hosts interfaith dialogues that explore intriguing and relevant topics. Discussions are open to all UTMB faculty, staff, students, and the Galveston community, and are sponsored by the UTMB Equal Opportunity and Diversity, Pastoral Care, and Human Resources Departments.

University Christian Fellowship
The non-denominational fellowship provides an environment and opportunities to become the loving persons that God intends us them be. It encourages members to serve as Christian role models to their students and colleagues. Membership is open and free but limited to faculty, staff, fellows, interns, and students of UTMB.

OED is a team of education professionals with expertise in medical education research and evaluation, curriculum and faculty development, and learner assessment. Healthy, Wealthy and Wise
A series of lunch-time financial educational seminars, Healthy, Wealthy and Wise, aim to meet both goals by educating, equipping and empowering UTMB employees to proactively and successfully manage their finances. Each month, a different topic is presented by university financial partners which include organizations authorized by the UT System to provide retirement products and investment options to UTMB employees. Any member of the employee community, from the first-time car buyer to the most experienced investor, from kitchen table budget balancers to those with certified financial planners – can benefit from these informative seminars. All sessions are free and beverages are provided. RSVPs are requested.

Initialization Office
The Initialization Office provides services to verify employment eligibility of newly hired employees, as required by the Department of Homeland Securities, US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Verification of new employees must be successfully completed before they begin working or no later that their 3rd day of employment.
