  • Courtney Wallin, PhD  -  Dr. Courtney Wallin is the Outreach Lead at the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program. In this role, she leads efforts to raise awareness about the value of the All of Us dataset, engage researchers from a broad range of communities, and cultivate program partnerships.

    Prior to joining the program, Dr. Wallin held a position at the National Institute on Aging, where she served as a liaison to a variety of stakeholders with interest in aging research and public health policy issues, including Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Wallin came to the National Institutes of Health through the Presidential Management Fellows Program, during which she held a six-month detail supporting strategic efforts leading up to All of Us’s national launch in May 2018.

    Dr. Wallin earned her Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from the George Washington University studying age-related differences in visual representations and saccade patterns during real-world distance judgments. While pursuing her doctorate, she served as a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellow at the George Washington University as well as an Endeavour Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong in Australia. Dr. Wallin also holds degrees in Biology and Psychology from Providence College.

    Adrienne Roman, PhD  -  Dr. Adrienne Roman is a Project Manager at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

    Dr. Roman’s graduate research at Indiana University focused on investigating the effects of sensory deprivation on cognitive development in children with hearing loss and received her PhD in Cognitive Psychology in 2015.

    She continued her work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Hearing and Speech Sciences Department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before joining the All of Us Data and Research Center in January 2020. At the Data and Research Center, Dr. Roman focuses her efforts on researcher support and outreach with the goal of creating educational and training materials for researchers to facilitate successful utilization of the Researcher Workbench and All of Us dataset in their research.

The Importance of Institutional Support for Diabetes Prevention

March 31, 2021 - This event was presented online in collaboration with UTHealth Cizik School of Nursing and Houston Business Coalition for Health.  It was chaired by UTMB President ad Interim Ben G. Raimer, MD, MA, FAAP; and moderated by UTMB Chief Medical Information Officer Carlos Clark, DO.

  • Elizabeth A. Joy, MD, MPH, FACSM, FAMSSM  -  Dr. Joy is Senior Medical Director for Wellness & Nutrition at Intermountain Healthcare in Utah.

    She practices Family and Sports Medicine at the Salt Lake LiVeWell Center. She is faculty in the University of Utah Departments of Family & Preventive Medicine, and Nutrition & Integrative Physiology.

    She is Past President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), serves on the Exercise Is Medicine (EIM) Governance Committee, and chairs the EIM Clinical Practice Committee. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National Physical Activity Plan Alliance. Her research interests lie in physical activity promotion and diabetes prevention.

    Neha Sachdev, MD  -  Neha Sachdev is the Director of Health Systems Relationships in Improving Health Outcomes at the American Medical Association (AMA). In her role, Dr. Sachdev works with physicians, care teams and health care organizations to implement evidence-based strategies for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

    Prior to joining the AMA, she was a core faculty attending physician at the Virtua Health family medicine residency program.

    Dr. Sachdev completed her residency training in family medicine at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. She earned her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hispanic Studies and Health and Societies from the University of Pennsylvania.

    Janet Williams, MA  -  Ms. Janet Williams is senior manager in the Improving Health Outcomes (IHO) group at the American Medical Association.

    She has more than 30 years public health program and policy development experience. At the AMA she collaborates with large health systems on strategy development and implementation of a diabetes prevention strategy. She also manages IHO’s policy portfolio that includes institutional, regulatory and legislative policies. She managed the AMA’s prediabetes initiative with the YMCA of the USA under the CMMI award by recruiting clinical practices, health systems and physicians to identify and refer their patients with prediabetes to the YMCA’s program. Janet also serves as the AMA’s Point of Contact and subject matter expert for the CDC’s NDPP Service Center.

    Before joining the AMA, Janet was director of tobacco prevention and control for the Cook County Department of Public Health and deputy executive director of public affairs for the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago. She holds a masters in media advocacy and public policy from DePaul University.
