AHA Heartsaver First Aid Brochure

The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches rescuers the knowledge & skills they need to recognize emergencies at the worksite and give aid. Some rescuers are required  to take the course as part of their employer's effort to comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) regulations. For others, whose job involves working with the public, such as daycare workers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, lifeguards, special ed teachers, & flight attendants taking this course may be a requirement for employment.

Course Description:

The Heartsaver First Aid Course was developed to meet a widespread request for an AHA course that integrates First Aid, CPR, & the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).

The Heartsaver First Aid Course consists of 6 sections:

1. General Principles of First Aid

 2. Medical Emergencies

 3. Injury Emergencies

 4. Healthcare Provider CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

 5. Automatic External Defibrillators

 6. Environmental Emergencies

The Heartsaver First Aid Course is a video based course and includes manikin practice & case discussions.

The course is limited to the emergencies that a first aid rescuer is most likely to encounter at the worksite.
