Alternative Renewal BLS
This option is for those attending an advanced ECC course such as PALS or ACLS. Due to the reinforcement of BLS skills and skills checks in advanced courses, an additional 1.5 hours at the end of the advanced class to cover the remainder of the curriculum of the BLS Healthcare Provider course. This option is highly recommended, especially if your BLS card is set to expire within 6 months, but is available to all attending an advanced course. There currently is a wait list for BLS classes between now and January. Attending this section alleviates the need to return to the educational lab on another day for a 4 hours class. This option also allows you to keep your certifications expiring at the same time so you do not have to keep up with 2 different renewal dates. Please let us know when registering if you desire to renew your BLS during your advanced course.
Online Renewal BLS
This option is for those who may not be able to attend a regular BLS course and does not require one of the advance AHA courses. Online renewal of BLS-HCP is done through the online AHA website. The course is divided into three parts with part 1 being the online didactic portion and parts 2 & 3 being the skills practice and evaluation here at the Life Support Education Lab. There is a cost for the online renewal that is paid to AHA for part 1. For additional information contact LSED.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purchase. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Successful participation in one of these classes alone does not imply certification to perform the skills learned in the class.
