Occupational Safety and Fire Prevention

Occupational Safety and Fire Prevention works with various departments to implement safety policies and  procedures to ensure a safe environment for UTMB employees, students, and visitors

The Occupational Safety and Fire Prevention (OS&FP) department has many aspects, including:

• Inspecting, testing and servicing of fire-fighting equipment and fire protection systems.

• Testing of fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

• Conducting campus wide fire drills.

• Assisting in the development and evaluation of fire protection methods.

• Conducting hand-on fire safety training classes.

• Developing evacuation and safety management plans.

• Investigation of campus accident reports.

• Hot Work Permitting Program

• Risk Assessments and Interim Life Safety Measures
